Glen Oaks Country Club is seeking a qualified, highly motivated Catering Assistant!
The Catering Assistant works under the Director of Events and the Catering Sales Manager. The primary objective of the department includes planning, budgeting, forecasting, soliciting new business, maintaining current clients, and promoting banquet and catering business for the club. Revenue maximization and the ability to control Catering expenses through effective negotiation of services and accurate forecasting are required. The team is responsible for achieving the budgeted sales plan. Internal/external events may include corporate events, weddings, rehearsal dinners, luncheons, galas, and golf tournaments as well as our member events.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with prospecting research to generate new business.
- Respond to all inquiry phone calls/walk-ins & leads in a timely manner.
- Interact with clients to determine needs and direct staff accordingly.
- Create a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive atmosphere for members and guests with detailed BEO’s for small social and member events.
- Promote upcoming programs and encourage member participation.
- Interact professionally and enthusiastically with members.
- Welcome clients at the start of each event.
- Represent the club in a positive and professional manner.
- Responsible for communication efforts such as email reminders, thank you’ s and coordination with other departments.
- Assist with organizing supplies within approved budgets.
- Conduct site visits.
- Ensure the functions are set to client-specific standards.
- Coordinate with other departments regarding the BEO process.
- Assure completion of the billing and deposit procedures.
- Give an overview of weekly events to Director of Events.
- Assisting with event floor plans.
- Tracking holiday reservations and changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in catering sales or the banquet industry preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of social etiquette.
- Outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while taking direction.
- Basic computer skills required; experience with NorthStar or similar.
